Detachment Policy
So I got a call today from the vet saying that my dog has intestinal canecr, which is inoperable. And at the time I thought, "Well, it doesn't matter if it's operable or not, I wouldn't want to pay so much to fix a dog anyhow." I'm a horrible person. I have no idea what caused me to become so detached from being human. The thought that the impending death of my dog didn't even bring a tear to my eye REALLY bothered me. I am a casual observer of life. I peer at it through my telescope and pretend that my part is somewhere in the middle. I'm tired of it though. I want to FEEL life. I need to cry, to be happy, to get angry, to fall in love, to protest. My life is hermettically sealed for protection. change me.

yes, chris. this is a really good step. i'm totally here for you and i want to help you with anything that is possible for me to do.
you know, I agree that it would be a waste of money to operate on an animal. If it dies, sure, I'd be sad, but no pet is worth hundreds of dollars. Plus, this way you get a new one. It's like hitting the reset button!
one time my family spent 400 on a surgery to fix my rabbit's feet. my dad still bitches, and it's been like 8 years.
i just had to create this blog for a class i have and i found you because we both enjoy the book if you give a moose a muffin.. so anyway, i read your most recent post and i thought it was funny b/c i'm the same way.. one time my friend spent $200 to get this surgery for her TURTLE! come on.. just buy a new turtle.. but i'm sorry to hear about your dog..
If you think it's worth it to fix your dog and spend an absurd amount of money, then it would be - however, if you think otherwise, it is not the fact that it is a dog that is lacking. A dog can be loved, too, to the same measure as a human if you let yourself, or I would think. If you don't want to pay to fix your dog, it's YOUR LOVE for the dog that is lacking, not the dog itself. I don't mean that to be a dick comment, or negative in anyway, it's just how I think it is. And I think I know how you feel about being a passive observer to life - and it feels so great to dive in and love, live and participate.
